MONETABRIEF – Sri Lanka's tourist arrivals in 2026 up to June 24 were down 7.5 percent to 95,747, from a year earlier, amid the US-Israel war on Iran, data from the state tourism promotion office showed.
In May 2026, arrivals showed a recovery compared to the same month in 2025.
In the 24 days of June however, arrivals were down, against 103,562 in the 2025
Indian visitors were 35,370 making up 37 percent of the total, while UK arrivals were 7,773 amounting to 8.0 percent. Chinese made up 7.0 percent at 6,727.
In the year to June 2026, total arrivals were 1,022,022 down from 1,133365. (Colombo/June29/2026)
