MONETABRIEF – Sri Lanka's rupee closed at 336.30 to the US dollar, after trading as high as 337 intra-day while bond yields rose on Iran war jitters, dealers said as renewed clashes in drove oil prices higher.
Sri Lanka's central bank has bought dollars heavily preventing appreciation and injecting money in recent weeks.
Bond yields were up also ahead of a bond auction next week. The flare up in the Gulf had led to bonds rising around 20/25 basis points from the earlier lows, dealers said.
A bond maturing on 15.09.2027 closed at 10.30/45 percent, Thursday, almost unchanged from 10.30/45 percent.
A bond maturing on 15.02.2028 closed at 10.45/55 percent up from 10.45/55 percent.
A bond maturing on 15.12.2029 was closed at 11.10/20 percent up from 11.00/10 percent.
A bond maturing on 01.08.2030 closed at 11.37.42 percent, up from 11.30/35 percent.
A bond maturing on 15.10.2030 closed at 11.47/45 percent up from 11.36/40 percent.
A bond maturing on 15.12.2032 closed at 11.65/75 percent, up from 11.57/65 percent.
A bond maturing on 01.11.2033 closed at 11.75/85 up from 11.70/80 percent.
A bond maturing on 15.06.2035 closed at 11.85/12.00 percent up from 11.75/85 percent. (Colombo/Jul09/2026)
