Sri Lanka to Get RMB79Million Grant from China to Repair Bridges

MONETABRIEF - Sri Lanka's cabinet has approved signing agreements to get a 79 million yuan loan from the government of China to repair bridges, spokesman Nalinda Jayatissa said.

The grant is the first phase of a program to rebuild 14 bridges damaged by Cyclone Ditwah with grant aid promised by China.

Under this program, nien bridges will be repaired.

The transport minister has proposed signing the grant agreement and declaring it as a project of the government. (Colombo/Aug25/2026)
