MONETABRIEF – Sri Lanka is planning to extend an expressway to the airport in Katunayake up to Chilaw, Transport and Highways Minister Bimal Rathnayake said.
President Anura Kumara Dissanayake had given instructions to do the studies for the expressway, Rathnayake told parliament Tuesday.
The Road Development Authority has been asked to the feasibility for the airport expressway to be extended to run a little beyond Chilaw to Deduru Oya bridge.

An expressway from Kahathuduwa to Ingiriya will also be started from November or December.
An expressway from Anuradhapura to Vavuniya is being studied.
Though one day all expressways should be connected, it was too expensive to connect all of them to Colombo at once, he said.
The Puttalam to Anuradhapura existing road was as good as an expressway, he said. (Colombo/Aug08/2026)
