MONETABRIEF – State-run SriLankan Airlines said Vipul Misra, an Indian airline executive has been appointed acting chief executive from September 09.
He has experience in aviation leadership and engineering commercial carriers including Air India, Vistara, Indigo, SpiceJet, Kingfisher Airlines, and Air Deccan.
Misra's expertise in full-service, and low-cost carriers will provide "technical and operational direction during this interim period, as the national carrier of Sri Lanka works towards enhancing its performance and long-term sustainability," the airline said.
SriLanka's government has appointed a committee to re-structure and find solutions for the airline which has been making losses since Emirates was removed as managing shareholder by then-President Mahinda Rajapaksa. (Colombo/Aug10/2026)
