Sri Lanka Rupee Closes Stronger, Bond Yields Down

MONETABRIEF – Sri Lanka's rupee closed stronger at 331.60/90 to the US dollar in the spot market Friday, dealers said while bond yields also fell.

The rupee fell to around 333 to the US dollar in intra-day trade amid a war chest of excess liquidity in money markets, before the central bank intervened to honor some of the notes created by preventing appreciation in earlier weeks.

Meanwhile bond yields eased.

A bond maturing in 15 Dec 2029 closed at 10.95/05 percent, down from yesterday's 11.00/10 percent.

A bond maturing in 01 July 2030 closed at 11.15/25 percent, down from yesterday's 11.25/35 percent.

A bond maturing in 15 May 2031 closed at 11.40/50 percent, down from yesterday's 11.55/70 percent.

A bond maturing in 15 Dec 2032 closed at 11.55/65 percent, down from yesterday's 11.70/80 percent.

A bond maturing in 15 June 2034 closed at 12.00/10 percent, down from yesterday's 12.05/10 percent. (Colombo/Sept18/2026)
