MONETABRIEF – Sri Lanka's President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has ceremonially connected a 5 MegaWatt floating solar plant in Anuradhapura to the national grid, his media office said.
The plant was built on Ibbankatuwa Tank in Anuradhapura by Diyajanani (Pvt) Ltd, a unit of Sri Lanka's Windforce Plc.
The plant is spread across an area of 10.5 acres.
Windforce said the floating plant is expected to generate 9 GigaWatt hours of energy a year.

Windforce and its joint venture partner Vidullanka also commissioned a 10MW/40MWh battery energy system, also in Anuradhapura, earlier in the day. (Colombo/Sept19/2026)
