MONETABRIEF – Sri Lanka is working with the World Bank on 100 million dollar tourism development project for Northern Sri Lanka, Deputy Tourism Minister Ruwan Ranasinghe said.
Sri Lanka tourism authorities are working on multiple projects to develop tourism in the North and East he said.
The British High Commission is implementing several projects in the Mannar district.
Delft Island has been identified for development as a carbon neutral destination, and some funding agencies have agreed to finance it, he said.
A cruise service between Colombo and the North was also in the works, he said.
Sri Lanka is also branding each province as part of a global destination marketing campaign. (Colombo/Oct08/2026)
