MONETABRIEF – Sri Lanka will reduce a current tax on marine bunkers to make the island internationally competitive, President Anura Kumara Dissanayake said.

There was currently a 2.5 percent tax on bunker fuel.

"We hope to give a concession in the upcoming budget," President Dissanayake said.

"To be competitive we have to fall in line with international tax practices. With tax policies we make a unequal playing field in terms of competitiveness.

"We hope to make a change in that."
