MONETABRIEF – Bunker sales had surged 31 percent amid the Middle East crisis, with margins also rising at Lanka Marine Services, a unit of Sri Lanka's John Keells Holdings which does business in Colombo port.
"Performance benefited from increased demand arising from supply chain disruptions associated with the conflict in the Middle East, while volatility in energy prices contributed to improved margins," JKH Chief Krishan Balendra said.
Separately, central bank data showed, exports of petroleum had topped 1.1 billion US dollars up to September.
Up to September 2026, 3,527 ships had called at Sri Lanka's ports up from 3,334 last year.
