MONETABRIEF – Sri Lanka's Laugfs Gas is expecting three shipments in November from OQ Trading and Geogas, the firm said, amid shortages of liquefied petroleum gas in the country.
A shipment from OQ Trading is expected at Hambanota on November 12-14.
A shipment from Geogas is expected in Colombo from November 15-17.
A shipment from OQT is expected in Hambantota from November 24-28,
"These dates remain subject to shipping arrangements, port operations and applicable regulatory approvals. Domestic releases from the Hambantota shipments require the necessary authorisations. Distribution is expected to resume progressively following receipt and clearance of the cargoes," Laugfs said in a statement.
"Conflict in the Middle East and disruptions to maritime transport through the Strait of Hormuz have affected international LPG supply chains, creating procurement and shipping difficulties for Sri Lanka and other importing countries."
Sri Lanka had uninterrupted LPG supplies after US attacks on Iran, as Swiss based Geogas won the contract for Litro gas.
In 2026 the contract went to OQ Trading, which supplies gas from Oman. (Colombo/Nov05/2026)
