Sri Lanka SEC says Samagi Capital is not a real broker

MONETABRIEF – Sri Lanka's Securities and Exchange Commission said a company calling itself Samagi Capital (Private) Limited, is not a licensed stockbroker and it is showing potential a fake certificate.

"A certificate currently being circulated on social media, which purports to grant a Broker Dealer License to the above mentioned company is fraudulent and has not been issued by the SEC," the securities watchdog said in a social media post.

"This certificate is fake and misleading.:

The SEC said it is advising investors and the general public not to deposit any funds into accounts associated with Samagi Capital (Private) Limited to trade on the Colombo Stock Exchange.

To safeguard investments, investors should always verify whether companies that promote stock investments are listed in the official websites of the Securities and Exchange Council and Colombo Stock Exchange.
