Sri Lanka's CICT Unloads 2,241Tonne Containerized BESS Units From China Ship

MONETABRIEF – Sri Lanka Expects to revise a loan agreement with Exim Bank of China and have it ready for signature by August, Deputy Minister of Finance Anil Jayantha Fernando has said after meeting a visiting team from the lender.

A delegation led by Deputy Chairman of the Exim Bank of China, Yang Dongning, visited Sri Lanka and met Minister Anil Jayantha Fernando and Treasury officials.

The first phase of the Central Expressway running from Kadawatha to Mirigama is being financed by the Exim Bank of China.

Both sides reviewed the progress of the revision and expressed the commitment to complete the process, a finance ministry statement said.

Subject to internal processes of both sides being completed, Sri Lanka expects to complete the requirements to make the agreement ready before the end of August, the statement said. (Colombo/July03/2026)
