MONETABRIEF – Sri Lanka's National Development Bank said it had received an interim report on a forensic audit carried out by Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu India LLP.
The interim report is as yet confidential, but it has come up with a 13.5 billion rupee value for the fraud, NDB said in a stock exchange filing.
An earlier report indicated a 13.2 billion rupee fraud.
The bank said employees involved in siphoning out funds had been arrested.
A group of bank employees had taken sent out money through Common Electronic Fund Transfer Switch, to other banks and created a asset account in the bank books to fill the gap, reports said. (Colombo/June27/2026)
