OPEN SESAME : D B P H Dissabandara, Chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka officially opening the Gampaha branch of the CSE
MONETABRIEF – Colombo Stock Exchange said it had opened a branch in the Sri Lanka city of Gampaha, taking the districts in which the bourse had offices to 13.
"As one of the country’s key hubs, Gampaha businesses have strong potential to leverage the capital market for expansion," CSE Chief Rajeeva Bandaranaike was quoted as saying at the opening of the branch.
"Through the Empower Board platform the CSE offers and its presence in Gampaha, businesses can unlock the value of their business and create wealth in the economy.
"So, in Gampaha we are opening the doors for broad basing the stock market for both entrepreneurs and investors."
Out of Sri Lanka's 22 million population, about a million people actively participated in the capital maket, D B P H Dissabandara, Chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka, said.
The opening o the Colombo Stock Exchange's latest branch Gampaha, an important step towards expanding access to the capital market and encouraging wider public participation. (Colombo/June27/2026)
