MONETABRIEF – Sri Lanka's cabinet of ministers had approved signing agreements to borrow 350 million dollars from India, spokesman Nalinda Jayatissa said.
A tranche of 100 million dollars would come as a short-term loan and 250 million dollars will come as a long-term loan.
The funds will go to restore damaged infrastructure.
India is also giving 100 million dollars, for housing, education, water supply and drainage.
India's High Commissioner to Colombo, Santosh Jha has said earlier that Indian was planning to give the 350 million dollar equivalent loan in Indian rupees. (Colombo/July02/2026)
