Sri Lanka To Seek Investors to Turn Presidential Palaces into Tourist Resorts

MONETABRIEF - Sri Lanka's cabinet of Minister has given the go ahead to seek investors to turn five presidential palaces around the island into tourist resorts, spokesman Nalinda Jayatissa said.

The Presidential Palance have a high architectural and historical value. They also have beautiful grounds, Minister Jayatissa said.

At the moment, the Presidential Secretariat has to spend a large amount of money to maintain, and provide security.

Cabinet has approved seeking proposals from investors to make Presidential Palaces in Bentota, Katharagma, Mahiyangana, Embilipitiya and Anuradhapura into tourist resorts.

The will be given on long-term leases. (Colombo/July28/2026)
