MONETABRIEF – Sri Lanka's Sampath Bank has received shareholder approval to raise 50 billion rupees in listed debt over the next three years to boost its Tier II capital, the lender said in a stock exchange filing.
The bonds will be Basel III compliant, meaning the can be converted to equity if there is a capital depletion.
The bonds will either be standard unsecured, subordinated, redeemable debentures or similar sustainable bonds.
The securities will be issued in one or more instances within the next three years.
The timing, structure, coupons, will be disclosed at issue. (Colombo/Oct02/2026)
