MONETABRIEF – Sri Lanka's Windforce Plc says six of its solar power firms have won tenders to build battery energy storage systems totalling 28.35MW.143.75MWh in a tender called by the power grid.
Diya Janani, a floating solar firm in which Windforce had a 100 percent had submitted bids for 3.75MW/18.75MWh, Vydexa in which it had a 76.13 percent stake 4.9MW/25MWh, Kebithigollawa in which it had a 88.5 percent stake, 4.9MW/25MWh.
Solar One, Solar Universe and Sooryashakthi had submitted bids for 4.9MW/25MW each.
Windforce had a 50 percent stake in the firms.
"The bid prices submitted by the above companies fell within the winning bid threshold," Windforce said in a stock exchange filing.
"While the formal award of the projects is still pending, the Board of Directors considers this development to be pricesensitive information, given its relevance to the Company’s future operations, potential project portfolio expansion and long-term financial outlook."
The projects would require around 944 million rupees in equity.
Sri Lanka's National Systems Operator called bids for 150MW/600MW of batter energy systems from existing projects to bolster its ability to use time shift solar energy to the night peak. (Colombo/Sept26/2026)
