SriLankan Airlines Adds 17 Island Destinations With Maldivian

MONETABRIEF – SriLankan Airlines said it has linked up with Island Aviation Services, which operates as Maldivian, to allow customers to book connecting flights.

The interline agreements will allow SriLankan to issue tickets taking passengers to 17 domestic destinations in the Maldives archipelago.

"This applies to all inbound and outbound travel via Velana International Airport in MalΓ© and Gan International Airport on Gan Island, ensuring a smooth end-to-end travel experience," SriLankan said in a statement.

"By connecting SriLankan Airlines’ international network with Maldivian’s extensive domestic operations, the agreement significantly improves access to remote and popular island destinations within the Maldives.

"This is expected to be particularly beneficial for both leisure and business travellers seeking efficient transfers within the archipelago."

SriLankan Airlines flies three times a to Velana International Airport in Male and twice a week to Gan International Airport on Gan Island.

"By integrating our global network with Maldivian’s domestic connectivity, we are unlocking greater access across the Maldives while creating new opportunities for growth across key commercial segments," Dimuthu Tennakoon, Head of Commercial of SriLankan said.

SriLankan Airlines flies to 33 destinations and connects passengers to 130 destinations across 63 countries including codeshare partnerships. (Colombo/July28/2026)
