MONETA BRIEF – Sri Lanka rupee was quoted at 336.10/35 to the US dollar in mid-morning trade in the spot market Friday, wider from yesterday's close of 336.10/20, while bond yields were largely unchanged, dealers said.
The average bank buying rates for telegraphic transfers were 331.800 rupees per US dollar and selling 340.800 rupees.
The central bank two weeks ago, bought dollars heavily and injected money to the market, but does not do the same when the rupees turn into imports. However, it sells dollars to the Treasury for cash, helping reduce liquidity and maintain monetary stability.
Bond yields were flat, with some quoted wider in early trade, dealers said.
A bond maturing on 15.09.2027 was quoted at 10.30/40 percent, steady 10.30/45 percent on Thursday.
A bond maturing on 01.05.2028 was quoted at 10.60/70 percent, unchanged from 10.60/70 percent.
A bond maturing on 15.10.2028 was quoted at 10.70/80 percent, down from 10.75/85 percent.
A bond maturing on 15.12.2029 was quoted at 11.30/40 up from 11.25/35 percent.
A bond maturing on 15.05.2030 was quoted at 11.40/50 unchanged from 11.40/50 percent
A bond maturing on 01.08.2030 was quoted at 11.55/65 unchanged from 11.55/60 percent.
A bond maturing on 15.10.2030 was quoted 11.60/65 unchanged from 11.60/65 percent
A bond maturing on 15.12.2032 was quoted at 12.05/15 percent from unchanged 12.00/15 percent.
A bond maturing on 15.01.2033 was quoted at 12.05/15 unchanged from 12.00/15 percent.
A bond maturing on 01.11.2033 was quoted at 12.05/20 unchanged from 12.05/20 percent.
