MONETABRIEF – Democrats are leading in a number of earlier Republican House of Representative and Senate seats, in very early results, US media reports.
Democrats need to take 3 seats in the 435 member House and 4 in the 100 seat Senate to gain control of the respective chambers.
With very early results, Democrats were leading in many House seats held by Republican, CNN and CBS reported.
Democrats were expected to win the House while Senate race was expected to be closer.
In the House of Representatives, Democrats are leading in 50 Republican seats vs 2 Republican by around 7 am Sri Lanka team.
In the Senate Democrats were leading in 7 Republican seats against zero for Republicans
Americans are going to vote amid high inflation triggered by the Federal Reserve for many years through is ample reserves regime and explicit pursuit of a so-called dual mandate.
The dual mandate or a belief held by macroeconomists (Keynesians or post-Keynesians) that inflation reduces unemployment was ignored by Fed Chairmen like Paul Volcker and Alan Greenspan, helping create the Great Moderation period where parties won two consecutive terms.
