MONETABRIEF - Sri Lanka's Cabinet has approved drafting changes to the Employees Provident Fund, which applies to private sector and semi-government workers, Minister Nalinda Jayatissa said.
A draft on changes have been prepared by the Ministry of Labour taking into suggestions made by the central bank which is the custodian of the Fund.
The changes were made to modernize the Fund and to solve problems faced by its members, Minister Jayatissa said.
The cabinet has approved asking the Legal Draftsman to prepare amendments to the 1958 Act which governs the EPF based on the preliminary draft prepared by the Ministry of Labour. (Colombo/Aug04/2026)
