Sri Lanka Rupee Closes Stronger, Bond Yields Up

Sri Lanka's rupee closed at 330.80/90 to the US dollar in the spot market Friday, strengthening from 330.95/331.00 a day earlier, dealers said, while bond yields edged up.

Treasury bill yields also increased, with the 3-month rate rising to 9.20/9.30 percent from 9.15/9.25 percent a day earlier.

The 6-month rate increased to 9.45/9.55 percent from 9.40/9.50 percent, while the 12-month rate rose to 9.90/10.10 percent from 9.85/9.95 percent.

A bond maturing in 15 October 2028 closed at 10.60/70 percent, up from Thursday's 10.55/65 percent.

A bond maturing in 15 September 2029 closed at 10.95/11.10 percent, with the lower rate unchanged from Thursday's 10.95 percent.

A bond maturing in 15 October 2030 closed at 11.35/45 percent, up from Thursday's 11.30/40 percent.

A bond maturing in 01 December 2031 closed at 11.55/65 percent, up from Thursday's 11.45/55 percent.

A bond maturing in 01 October 2032 closed at 11.75/85 percent, up from Thursday's 11.70/80 percent.

A bond maturing in 01 November 2033 closed at 11.90/12.00 percent, unchanged from Thursday's 11.90/12.00 percent.

A bond maturing in 15 October 2034 closed at 12.10/15 percent, compared with Thursday's 12.05/15 percent.

A bond maturing in 15 June 2035 closed at 12.10/20 percent, up from Thursday's 12.05/15 percent.

A bond maturing in 15 August 2036 closed at 12.15/25 percent, compared with Thursday's 12.10/25 percent.

A bond maturing in 01 July 2037 closed at 12.15/30 percent, up from Thursday's 12.10/25 percent.

A bond maturing in 15 August 2039 closed at 12.20/40 percent, up from Thursday's 12.15/30 percent.
