MONETABRIEF - Sri Lanka's rupee closed stronger, appreciating to 332.80/90 to the US dollar, on Friday up from 333.45/55 a day earlier, dealers said and bond yields continued to fall.
The central bank had earlier blocked appreciation as foreign investors also bought dollars. Usually when the exchange rate is allowed to appreciate, exporters sell and banks also cut open positions.
Bond yields fells on continued bullish sentiments, foreign bond buying which had pushed up excess liquidity and currency appreciation which had raised expectation of inflation easing, dealers said.
