MONETABRIEF – Sri Lanka's Resus Energy Plc, said it had commissioned a 2 MegaWatt solar power plant, which was constructed in Eastern Sri Lanka.
The plant is owned by Resus Eastern Solar (Pvt) Ltd, a fully owned unit of Resus Energy.
The solar power plant in Damana in the Ampara district of Sri Lanka can produce around 3.5 GigaWatts of energy per year, the firm said in a stock exchange filing.
Eastern Sri Lanka has low rainfall and less cloudy days than the West.
Resus Energy said the plant was connected to the national grid on September 18.
To accommodate more solar in the to grid, Sri Lanka's power systems operator is also connecting power energy storage systems to the grid. (Colombo/Sept21/2026)
