Warren Buffett Steps Down As Berkshire Hathaway Chairman

MONETABRIEF – Warren Buffet, one of the world most influential investors is stepping down as Chairman of Berkshire Hathaway, to make way for his son, Howard as part of a planned succession.

Howard Buffett has been on the Berkshire Hathaway board since 1993.

Warren Buffett, labelled by his followers as the Oracle of Omaha, will remain a director. He has chaired the one trillion dollar conglomerate since 1970.

Greg Abel took over for Buffett took over as chief executive earlier this year.

"I have served Berkshire since 1965," Buffett said in a letter to shareholders. "Sixty-plus years in, I still have the best job in the world. That is not something many people my age can say, and I have never felt better about what comes next."

Buffett is 96 years old. He will remain a director and Chairman Emeritus. (Colombo/Sept18/2026)
