MONETABRIEF – A contract to supply 420,000 metric tonnes of liquefied petroleum gas to Sri Lanka for the next 12 months had been awarded to OQ Trading, Cabinet Spokesman Minister Nalinda Jayatisssa said.
OQ Trading had been a long time supplier of Middle Eastern LPG to Sri Lanka.
The firm has won the contract as the lowest priced bidder offering a price of 133.93 dollars per tonne above the Saudi Aramco contract price.
Then contract involves a minimum supply of 336,000 metric tonnes and up to a fluctuation of 20 percent.
The contract was previously held by Geogas Trading SA of Switzerland which supplied LPG from the US, avoiding disruptions to supply as the Middle East war broke out. (Colombo/Oct13/2026)
