MONETABRIEF - Sri Lanka's Sampath Bank reported profits of 11.02 billion rupees in the June 2026 quarter, up 65 percent from a year ago, amid higher net interest and fee income but lower provisions.
Interest income rose 15 percent to 55.4 billion rupees, while interest expense increased 14 percent to 30.8 billion rupees. Net interest income grew 18 percent to 24.5 billion rupees.
Net fee and commission income grew 23 percent to 6.4 billion rupees.
Trading gains amounted to 3.7 billion rupees, compared with a loss of 17 million rupees a year earlier.
Sampath Bank made loss provisions of 458 million rupees, down from 1.2 billion rupees.
Loans and advances grew 20 percent to 1,437 billion rupees in the six months to June 2026.
Deposits grew 7 percent to 1,781 billion rupees in rupee terms.
Gross assets grew 8 percent to 2,127 billion rupees at bank level and 2,235 billion rupees at group level.
Net assets increased 1 percent to 179 billion rupees at bank level and 195 billion rupees at group level. (Colombo/Aug 16/2026)
