MONETABRIEF – US Ambassador-designate Eric Meyer has arrived in Sri Lanka to assume duties, the American embassy in Colombo said.
"I look forward to building on the strong foundation between our two democracies to advance a U.S.-Sri Lanka partnership that creates new opportunities for American businesses, furthers our shared security interests, and delivers greater prosperity for both Americans and Sri Lankans," he was quotes as saying in a statement.
Prior to his assignment in Sri Lanka, he was Chargé d’Affaires, a.i., at the US Mission to Norway.
He has also been Senior Bureau Official for the Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs at the Department of State.
He would be the 29th US Ambassador to Sri Lanka. (Colombo/Aug25/2026)
